Richard Stonehouse, of Rich media Ltd has published a free national football magazine called Open Goal, thanks to Nstar’s new Creative Industries Fund support. Richard’s company was the first in the NE to be awarded this fund and means Open Goal should soon be at a football stadium near you.

A fast mover
Dr Philip Tann opened the first company to move into St Peter’s Gate in June 2004 with Tann Autopoietics. He has recently been hitting the national headlines after his speeding conviction was quashed in court. Although clocked at 42mph by the police, Philip’s GPS-based system which records his location and speed was able to prove he was driving at only 29mph at the time. Not one to bear a grudge, Phil is now offering to check thousands of police speeding convictions for accuracy using his company’s image recognition software that can quickly show a car’s speed using the photos taken by the police cameras.

sets up 3-D animation company
The latest company to sign-up for a unit at St Peter’s Gate is Artificial
Reality Creations (ARC). Set up by Graham Cammock, an ex-graduate
of Teesside University, the company creates 3-D animated models
for industry to help visualisation and sales presentations. As well
as Graham, ARC employs one other graduate..

Golfing website proves a hit
St Peter’s Gate is also home to golfing-worldwide.com a website
listing golf courses around the world. The company was set up by
Brian Lawson in 2000 as a part-time interest, but quickly became
a much bigger concern and in 2004 Brian transferred the business
to ‘Limited Company’ status and moved into St Peter’s Gate.
