St Peter's Gate is home to the studios of awarding-winning production company MCC Media which makes TV adverts, documentaries and promotional films.
University of Sunderland graduate Paul McCoy launched MCC Media after building up years of expertise in TV and video production.
Following his MA studies in Media Production, Paul effectively moved up the road from St Peter's University campus, which is the home of the media centre.
From St Peter's Gate, Paul has quickly built up a thriving media business producing short films and video productions for clients that include the NHS, Sunderland City Council, the DWP (Department of Work and Pensions) and The Samaritans.
MCC media has won the prestigious Royal Television Society Award for Best Promotion as well as other accolades. The success of MCC Media has led it to be awarded Blueprint General Business Award in the 2008 Regional Finals, in a competition that promotes graduates into enterprise.
Paul said: "St Peter's Gate has proved to be a great place to network and build a business, but also it has allowed me to continue my links with the University."

MCC Media offer a full range of production services from scripting and planning through to filming and editing. As well as producing video for transmission and DVD, the company specialises in making short corporate films for distribution on the Internet.
Paul said: "The power of video online is growing by the day, but it is crucial that businesses looking to promote themselves get it right. A bad production can do more harm than good."
